Supported Employment Program
Program Goals

Supported Employment (SE) is based on the evidence-based practice that helps people with disability find competitive employment in their local communities with rapid job search and placement services. There are eight core principles in the IPS (Individual Placement Support ) SE Fidelity Model.

Zero Exclusion for participating in Supported Employment Services. Clients who are interested in working are not prevented from participating in Supported Employment Services.

Supported Employment emphasizes helping clients obtain competitive employment, jobs paying competitive wages, jobs that exist in the open market.

Time unlimited and ongoing support for duration of employment.

Coordinate services with Department of Labor Vocational Rehabilitation Services or other community resources.
How does supported employment help?
Lou Derand, LLC Supported Employment Specialists first assess work-related strengths, abilities, preferences, employment history, potential obstacles and available needed supports. They then assist the individual to build skills necessary to find and keep a job in a workplace of their choice. This skills training includes everything from resume development, interview practice, skill building, and following up on leads to adjustment to the workplace, grooming and social skills. Sometimes, individuals may have a genuine desire to work but may not yet have the confidence, practical experience or stability to move immediately into competitive community employment. SEP offers these persons opportunities to develop and practice basic work habits through onsite skills training and community, individuals receive ongoing support and service coordination to maintain this employment.
For the Client:

We provide competitive work in the community for individuals with disabilities.

We provide whatever support is necessary to ensure success at the workplace, including coordination with other behavioral health services.

Clients have a greater level of satisfaction with jobs and have longer tenure at their place of employment

Clients’ self-esteem improves as they see they are able to work competitively in the community.
